Federica Agosta was born in Milano on 01/04/1978, took her Graduation in Medicine in 2003 and her Post-Degree Graduation in Neurology in 2008.
Federica Agosta has a broad background in clinical neurology and neuroimaging, with specific training and expertise in multiple sclerosis and neurodegenerative diseases. As research fellow at the Neuroimaging Research Unit, Scientific Institute San Raffaele, Milan, Italy she collaborated in several research projects on the use of conventional and quantitative magnetic resonance techniques in the study of normal aging, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis. During those years she has improved her knowledge on acquisition and post-processing techniques applied to functional MRI, diffusion tensor imaging and morphometry. As a postdoctoral fellow at the Memory and Aging Center, UCSF, she expanded her knowledge on AD, frontotemporal dementia, and primary progressive aphasia. Federica Agosta is currently a clinical researcher at the Institute of Experimental Neurology, Division of Neuroscience, Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Milan, Italy, where she conduct research projects in patients with dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions.
She is member of the ENS, in which she participates actively to the Neuroimaging Subcommittee, and Neuroimaging Symposium in ALS (NISALS). She acts as a reviewer on a regular basis for several international scientific journals and Governmental Organizations.
Federica Agosta is author or co-author of more than 100 scientific papers published on peer-reviewed journals (H index: 20).
In 2010, Dr. Agosta has been selected as young researcher participant for the 60th Interdisciplinary Meeting of Nobel Laureates for her outstanding contribution to the application of MRI techniques to the study of neurological diseases.
Alexis Arzimanoglou is Ass. Professor of Neurology and Child Neurology, Head of the "Epilepsy, Sleep and Pediatric Neurophysiology" department and the Institute for children and Adolescents with Epilepsy (IDEE) at the University Hospitals of Lyon, France.
Born in Greece, he graduated from the University of Salonica medical school, and started his training in Neurology at the Northwick Park Hospital and at Queen Square in the UK. In 1981 he moved to Paris and completed his residency at the Hôpital de la Salpêtrière and his training in Child Neurology, as a pupil of Jean Aicardi, at the Hôpital des Enfants Malades. He then worked as Child Neurologist at the SALPETRIERE hospital, before becoming Consultant Child Neurologist at the Children’s University Hospital "Robert Debré" in Paris, in charge of the Epilepsy Program of the Department of Child Neurology and Metabolic Disorders. Since June 2008 he is working in the University Children’s Hospital of Lyon (HFME).
His current clinical and research activities mainly concern the pharmacological and surgical management and genetics of childhood epilepsies and issues related to cognitive function and dysfunction in children with focal epilepsies. He is involved in several European collaborative studies on Neurological Disorders in children and works for the Inserm U821 research unit. He published more than 75 articles in peer reviewed journals. Together with Prs. Aicardi and Guerrini, he published the 3rd edition of one of the major epilepsy books: "Aicardi's Epilepsy in children" (LWW) and co-edited books on “Cognitive Dysfnction in children with temporal lobe epilepsy” (John Libbey Eurotext) and on “Neuropsychology in the Care of People with epilepsy”.
Professor Arzimanoglou is President of the Council of the French Chapter of the International League Against Epilepsy, ILAE Ambassador for Epilepsy, Past Chair of the Scientific Committee of the European Paediatric Neurology Society, Past President of the Société Européenne de Neurologie Pédiatrique (French speaking), active member of the International Child Neurology Association and corresponding member of the American Epilepsy Society. In 2009 he was elected member of the Commission on European Affairs of the ILAE.
He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the epilepsy journal Epileptic Disorders and Associate Editor of the European Journal of Paediatric Neurology. For chairing the organizing committee of the 26th International Epilepsy Congress held in Paris in 2005, he was nominated in 2009 Ambassador of the city of Paris and received the silver medal of the city.
Adolfo Bronstein is a Consultant Neurologist at Charing Cross Hospital (Imperial Healthcare) and at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square (UCLH), London, and Professor of Clinical Neuro-otology at Imperial College London. Born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 1950, he trained there in general neurology and then moved to London (UK) in 1981 with a prestigious British Council scholarship. He keeps active research links with Argentina.
He heads the Department of Neuro-otology in the Division of Neuroscience at Imperial College, an internationally renowned and multidisciplinary unit supported by competitive grants from the Medical Research Council. He is also the lead academic for Neuroscience at Charing Cross Hospital. His current research interests are the high order central mechanisms involved in central compensation of peripheral vestibular disorders as well as gaze-body motion interactions in basal ganglia disorders. In 2008 he obtained the Nylen-Hallpike Prize of the Barany Society for outstanding contribution to clinical neuro-otology.
Professor Bronstein has written over 220 papers, mostly on clinical and basic aspects of eye movements, balance, motor control and spatial orientation. His latest book, ‘Dizziness, a practical approach to diagnosis and management ’, has won a ‘High Commendation’ at the 2008 British Medical Association medical book prize competition. Prof Bronstein is an enthusiastic teacher of neuro-otology, balance and eye movement disorders, regularly lecturing and organising sessions for the ENS, EFNS and WCN, where he has acted as committee member and neuro-otology panel chairman. He founded and is the Chairman of the British Society of Neuro-otology.

Nicola De Stefano is Associate Professor of Neurology at the Department of Neurological and Behavioural Sciences, University of Siena, Italy. He is also Head of the NeuroImaging Laboratory in the same Department; and Adjunct Professor, Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University, Canada.
Prof. De Stefano graduated with his MD degree from the University of Siena, Italy, and went on to undertake his internship. After successfully completing his residency in neurology, he went on to pursue postgraduate training overseas in Canada before returning to his alma mater where he obtained his PhD.
Prof. De Stefano’s current research interests lie in multiple sclerosis and other neurological diseases involving the brain white matter. In particular, he is a world renowned expert on the clinical application of new neuroimaging techniques in brain and muscle of patients with neurological disease.
Prof. De Stefano is a member of several prestigious professional societies and organisations including the American Academy of Neurology, the European Neurological Society, the Italian Society of Neurology, and the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. Since 2009, he has been co-chairing the MAGNIMS European network for the study of magnetic resonance in multiple sclerosis. He has delivered numerous invited lectures worldwide, and to date, he has published numerous books and book chapters ad well as about 200 papers in prestigious international peer-review publications in the area of neurology and neurometabolic disorders. He is also currently serving as a reviewer for the most relevant international neurologic journals.
Professor Franz Fazekas is head of the Department of Neurology and director of the Division of General Neurology at the Medical University Graz, Austria.
Dr. Fazekas obtained his MD in 1980 at the Karl - Franzens University Graz, Austria, where he also received his training in neurology and psychiatry. From 1985 to 1987 he worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA, in the Department of Neurology, Cerebrovascular Research Center, and in the Division of Nuclear Medicine. Since then Dr. Fazekas’s research interests focus on diagnosis and treatment of multiple sclerosis, cerebrovascular diseases, and age-related brain changes in combination with neuroimaging tools like magnetic resonance imaging and positron-emission tomography. He has authored or coauthored more than 300 papers, book chapters, and reviews and serves on various scientific Advisory, Editorial and Review Boards.
Dr. Fazekas has been president of the Austrian Society for Neurology and of the Austrian Society for Stroke Research. He also has been a member of the Executive Committee of the European Neurological Society and now heads its subcommittee on “Cerebrovascular Disorders”. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the European Charcot Foundation and in the Executive Committee of ECTRIMS.

Antonio Toscano was born in Messina, 16/12/1956.
Medical degree (110/110 cum laude, 1981), specialized in Neurology (1985).
Research fellow at "The National Hospital for Nervous Diseases" with Dr. J.A. Morgan-Hughes, in collaboration with the Department of Biochemistry of S. Bartholomew's Medical College, directed by J.B. Clark, London (U.K), from 1986 to 1987 to study "Mitochondrial disorders".
In the following 2 years, Dr.Toscano has been fellow in Neurology in the University of Messina, still collaborating with Prof. Clark and Dr. Morgan-Hughes on a project on Mitochondrial disorders funded by ESF (European Society Foundation) of Strasbourg.
